Economies – Wants and Needs





Carol Welsh’s first grade students used their time in the classroom to learn about economics, wants and needs.  They used their iPod touches to explode the campus and take pictures of things that students needed and things they wanted. They used these pictures to create power point slide shows. The first graders were also introduced to simple machines through the use of the Lego Wedo kits.

Science and Language Arts





Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Ward shared their time in the ATT Classroom. Their students did research on the phases of the moon and created clay animations of the phases on the moon. They used Kid blog to share what they have learned with each other and with their teachers.  To complete their Language Arts assignments they use MS Word and also web resources that enabled them to create comic strips and animated characters.

Mrs. Kandis Cutlip students used many of the tools in the classroom to do research on the earth and our solar system. Brain Pop on the iPod Touches was a very useful app for studying about planets. They also used the 3D system in the room to investigate the movement of the stars and planets. During their time in the classroom they read and discussed the novel Frindle. After reading the novel the students were divided into groups of 4. Each group made a Claymation video of one of the chapters from the story.

Geometry and Fables




Mrs. Kohl students used many of the technology tools to study geometry and fables. They used GoShape and Kidspiration on the iPod Touches and the computers to create polygons and venn digraphs. Toontastic on the iPads was also very valuable to the students for creating their own fables. After studying Aesop’s fables, the students wrote their own fable stories and make it into a animated movies (Claymation).

Mrs. Feges students used their time in the ATT Classroom to study Math and Science.
They used the Lego Wedo Kits to investigate how to build simple machines and robots with motors and sensors and how to program them to perform complicated movements.
The students recorded what they created with the iPod Touches and created presentation with Photostory.

Science – Forces in motion




The first graders of Tracy Forman’s class use their time in the AT&T Classroom to study forces in motion and living and non-living things. They used the Lego Wedo kits to create robots that perform movements with gears, levers and pulleys.  The research living and non-living things on the internet and create power point slide show to present to the class what they have discovered.
